His example of a “conversation of gesture” was a dogfight, in which the antagonists circle each other, growling and snapping, responding instantly to signs of advance or retreat on the part of the other animal

in depth.

  1. How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are? I don’t know. Sometimes I feel like I’m too mature to be eighteen, and then other times I feel like a complete child. So maybe, eighteen?
  2. Which is worse, failing or never trying? Never trying. Failing gives you experience that you can’t gain from never attempting to do so.
  3. If life is so short, why do we do so many things we don’t like and like so many things we don’t do? Because we have expectations placed on our shoulders - it is expected for people to do what they are supposed to do. If you go out of the norm, then people are disappointed in you. I don’t know which one will make you truly happy - doing what you like and losing your loved ones or doing what your loved ones like and losing yourself.
  4. When it’s all said and done, will you have said more than you’ve done? Most definitely. I am not one of the people who slams into the road, and most of the times I pull away from things if I think about them too much.
  5. What is the one thing you’d most like to change about the world? The hate. Everyone is so hateful and angry, either at people or the government or the country. There is so much fucking hate that some people forget kindness and how to love. It’s sad.
  6. If happiness was the national currency, what kind of work would make you rich? Being a police officer, probably. I like the idea of helping people but also being in the action. So a police officer, or a firewoman.
  7. Are you doing what you believe in, or are you settling for what you are doing? I did settle for a long time on people and things that weren’t the best, but what it was what I thought I could get. Now I am more confident in myself, and pushing my way into the world and away from the things and people that held me back.
  8. If the average human life span was 40 years, how would you live your life differently? Hahaha, not too much differently. Maybe get married earlier, but I have expected that I would die early forever now. Çourse when I turned eighteen and I wasn’t dead, I WAS PRETTTYYY surprised. LOL
  9. To what degree have you actually controlled the course your life has taken? A lot, I mean a lot of it has had my influence. I will not do something that I don’t believe in and won’t let people push me into shit that I don’t want to do. That’s just how it is.
  10. Are you more worried about doing things right, or doing the right things? Doing the right things.
  11. You’re having lunch with three people you respect and admire.  They all start criticizing a close friend of yours, not knowing she is your friend.  The criticism is distasteful and unjustified.  What do you do? Defend her. I probably wouldn’t have before this summer, but I’ve changed and that’s just fucked up.
  12. If you could offer a newborn child only one piece of advice, what would it be? Not everyone is worth your trust or love - pick wisely and make mistakes, just for the knowledge.
  13. Would you break the law to save a loved one? Yes.
  14. Have you ever seen insanity where you later saw creativity? Occasionally. I don’t look too closely at insanity, though.
  15. What’s something you know you do differently than most people? Think, haha. People always get confused when I talk to them.
  16. How come the things that make you happy don’t make everyone happy? We all have different views and experiences in life that have changed us into who we are. No one has lived the same life with the same people, therefore we will never be as happy as the other when something presents itself.
  17. What one thing have you not done that you really want to do? What’s holding you back? I want to go somewhere - anywhere all by myself. I want to exist just as Lorelei Hillgren, no best friends following me or family dragging me some place. I love my family and friends and could never leave them, but to just once exist on my own would be amazing.
  18. Are you holding onto something you need to let go of? Yeah.
  19. If you had to move to a state or country besides the one you currently live in, where would you move and why? A different country, probably. Maybe across the sea or down south. I love the people here, but experiences exist in other places.
  20. Do you push the elevator button more than once?  Do you really believe it makes the elevator faster? Yeah… and no. LOL
  21. Would you rather be a worried genius or a joyful simpleton? Joyful! Intelligence sucks sometimes.
  22. Why are you, you? My family and experiences have shaped me into who I am, and I thank them for that.
  23. Have you been the kind of friend you want as a friend? I try to, but sometimes I know I am a suckass friend.
  24. Which is worse, when a good friend moves away, or losing touch with a good friend who lives right near you? Losing touch with a good friend who lives near me. Because then something has changed, and you have no idea what it is.
  25. What are you most grateful for? My family.
  26. Would you rather lose all of your old memories, or never be able to make new ones? Never be able to make new ones - either way it sucks, but I never want to forget my mom and how I came to be who I am today.
  27. Is is possible to know the truth without challenging it first? It matters on the circumstances.
  28. Has your greatest fear ever come true? Yes - it’s shellshocking and like a dream.
  29. Do you remember that time 5 years ago when you were extremely upset?  Does it really matter now? No, and no it doesn’t.
  30. What is your happiest childhood memory?  What makes it so special? Sledding with my parents and siblings in the middle of the night in the blizzard of 96. It was at our old house, so it was just us, and it was just something I want to remember forever. We were happy.
  31. At what time in your recent past have you felt most passionate and alive? Two days ago at 5 pm, flying in the sky with my sister.
  32. If not now, then when? Eventually.
  33. If you haven’t achieved it yet, what do you have to lose? Nothing. You never have anything to lose if the achievement is high enough.
  34. Have you ever been with someone, said nothing, and walked away feeling like you just had the best conversation ever? Yes, sometimes conversations don’t require words.
  35. Why do religions that support love cause so many wars? Because people always believe they’re right. They have to be right. It is in our nature to consider ourselves right, and when people challenge that, it’s in our nature to fight back.
  36. Is it possible to know, without a doubt, what is good and what is evil? Yes.
  37. If you just won a million dollars, would you quit your job? It matters on the job. If I loved my job, no. Actually, I probably would never quit it. Because what happens when the million dollars is down the drain?
  38. Would you rather have less work to do, or more work you actually enjoy doing? More work!
  39. Do you feel like you’ve lived this day a hundred times before? Occasionally.
  40. When was the last time you marched into the dark with only the soft glow of an idea you strongly believed in? A month or two ago. I challenged people and their believes, and ended up stronger because of it.
  41. If you knew that everyone you know was going to die tomorrow, who would you visit today? I would visit my nanny.
  42. Would you be willing to reduce your life expectancy by 10 years to become extremely attractive or famous? No.
  43. What is the difference between being alive and truly living? Being alive is just as I am now - sitting here on the computer just chilling. Truly living is reaching goals and being happy.
  44. When is it time to stop calculating risk and rewards, and just go ahead and do what you know is right? When someone is the way of getting hurt because you are dallying.
  45. If we learn from our mistakes, why are we always so afraid to make a mistake? Because it is a failure, and humans never take failure well. Disappointment is a plague.
  46. What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you? Speak my mind more often.
  47. When was the last time you noticed the sound of your own breathing? Hahah when I was breathing through the snorkle at key west. Darth Vader, bitch.
  48. What do you love?  Have any of your recent actions openly expressed this love? I love life, no matter how fucked up it can get.
  49. In 5 years from now, will you remember what you did yesterday?  What about the day before that?  Or the day before that? Yes, yes, and yes. Lol luckily the last three days of my life were awesome, so yerr.
  50. Decisions are being made right now. The question is:  Are you making them for yourself, or are you letting others make them for you? Making them for myself. I want to decide just exactly what I am doing with my life, because it is mine.
